Visual Field analysis is designed to monitor the quality of peripheral vision and detect any loss of vision from glaucoma and other optic nerve conditions. The Matrix uses what is called frequency doubling technology (FDT), which is extremely quick flickers of light that can be detected by the eye more precisely than solid lights. Older technology used simple white or yellow lights which aren’t as easy to detect. So, the Matrix and FDT is thought to be able to pick up on vision loss sooner than older versions of peripheral vision testing. The Matrix also allows for more testing options to cover a wider range of visual issues.
